What To Expect At
A Spinal Flow® Session
Spinal Flow® Technique is designed to help the brain reconnect with the body through the seven gateways of the spine and the 33 access points.
Before Your First Spinal Flow® Treatment
Step 1: Complimentary Consultation
Start your journey with a free 30-minute consultation—either in person or over the phone. During this session, we’ll take time to understand your health concerns and explain how the Spinal Flow® Technique works. If you feel aligned with our approach, we’ll schedule your initial assessment and first treatment session.
Step 2: Health Questionnaire
After booking your first session, you’ll receive a digital health questionnaire. Please complete and submit it before your appointment so we can better understand your unique needs and tailor the treatment accordingly.
Step 3: Posture & Gateway Assessment
Your first visit includes a comprehensive posture and gateway assessment designed to facilitate Spinal Flow® treatment.
Posture provides key insights into the function and balance of your body, while the seven spinal gateways are vital access points that surround and protect your nervous system. These gateways help us identify spinal blockages caused by stored physical, chemical, or emotional stress—factors that may contribute to pain, fatigue or chronic health issues.
During the assessment, your practitioner will guide you through simple movements—such as turning your head, bending your body, and walking a few steps—to observe your spinal alignment, mobility, and tension patterns.
If mobility is limited or you're in pain, your practitioner will adapt the assessment to ensure it remains comfortable and effective.
Step 4: Reassessment After Progress
A follow-up assessment will be conducted at your 12th session to evaluate changes and track your progress.
During Your Spinal Flow® Treatment
How to Prepare for Your Sessions
To get the most out of your Spinal Flow® treatments, we recommend the following:
Arrive on Time: Please be punctual so you can receive the full benefits of your session. Late arrivals may lead to a shorter treatment time.
Dress Comfortably: Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. Avoid jeans, tight pants, belts, or heavy jewelry, as these may need to be removed before your session.
Keep Us Informed: Let your practitioner know about any recent changes in your health, stress levels, or lifestyle that could impact your treatment.
The Treatment Process
Spinal Flow® is a safe, gentle, and non-invasive technique that works directly with your nervous system to release stored stress and restore natural balance in the body.
Each treatment session lasts approximately 30 minutes, although younger clients may require shorter sessions.
Your practitioner will begin by identifying specific access points along your spine, located at the dura mater layer. Using light, purposeful touch, the practitioner stimulates these access points to support your nervous system in releasing tension and activating your body’s innate healing response.
During your session, you may experience a variety of sensations. There are no 'right' or 'wrong' responses, as every body reacts differently when energy begins to flow. Even if you don’t feel much, that is completely normal. Some common sensations include:
A deepening of your breath
A sense of warmth or energy movement
Muscle twitches or spontaneous adjustments
Emotional release or a feeling of lightness
The practitioner will continuously observe the flow of energy along your spine and make any necessary adjustments to ensure your body responds in a way that supports healing and ease.
After Your Spinal Flow® Treatment
Your body’s healing doesn’t end when you leave the treatment room—it continues to evolve in the hours and days that follow. Here’s how to support your healing and get the most out of your Spinal Flow® session:
Post-Session Care Tips
Stay Hydrated
Drink at least 1.5 litres of water in the hours following your session to help flush out toxins and support your body’s natural detox process.Go for a Gentle Walk
Take a short 5-minute walk right after your session to help your body adjust and integrate the changes.Avoid Toxins
Minimise or avoid substances like caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drugs for as long as possible to support clean, effective healing.Eat Well
Fuel your body with fresh, whole foods. Limit gluten and dairy if possible, and consider wholefood-based supplements to support your recovery. Hydration and nutrition go hand in hand with the body’s natural repair process.Rest
Healing requires energy—so give yourself permission to slow down when your body needs it. Sleep on your back or side using a contoured pillow and avoid heavy lifting or twisting movements.Move Gently
Keep your body moving without strain. Stretch regularly, take short breaks if you're sitting for long periods, and avoid staying still for too long.
Possible Reactions After Treatment
Healing is rarely a linear process, and it’s completely normal to experience a range of sensations or symptoms as your nervous system begins to release long-held stress.
Some people feel immediate relief from their symptoms, along with a sense of lightness, clarity and improved sleep. Others may not feel much at all. Some may even experience unpleasant reactions, often referred to as a "healing crisis."
Your Body is Rebalancing. Over time, our bodies learn to compensate for blockages and imbalances by shifting tension to other areas. As Spinal Flow® work begins to release these patterns, you may temporarily feel new or intensified sensations. This is a natural part of the healing journey.
If you ever feel unsure about how your body is responding, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here to guide and support you. However, if your symptoms are serious or urgent, we strongly recommend seeking medical advice from your doctor.
Common Reactions May Include:
Headaches
Muscle soreness or increased pain
Nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea
Skin rashes
Emotional release (e.g. crying or mood swings)
Intensified or new symptoms
These responses are not signs that something is wrong. They are signs that your body is actively processing change. Pain and discomfort are how the body communicates; they are not your enemy.
The Three Stages of Care
True healing unfolds over time. As a general guideline, 2–3 sessions per week for several weeks are recommended. The frequency of your sessions will be tailored to your individual needs and may change as your body progresses through different phases of care:
Initial Intensive Care: Frequent sessions aimed at relieving your most noticeable symptoms and restoring essential function.
Corrective Care: As your symptoms begin to ease, we focus on restoring spinal function and supporting deeper, long-term healing.
Wellness Care: Ongoing sessions to maintain your progress, prevent new blockages, and keep your body functioning at its best—just like regular exercise or dental checkups.
